WEISENBARGER, Susan C. “Susie”

Age 77, of Arcanum, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at Village Green in Greenville following a long battle with an extended illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Weisenbarger, by her parents, Joseph & Martha Van Vickle, by a brother & sister-in-law, Ronald & MaryAnn Van Vickle, by a step-son, Steven Weisbenbarger and by a brother-in-law, Carl Weisenbarger. Susie retired from Wayne Health Care in May of 2011, but in her retirement she remained very active. She served on the board of trustees for the Wayne Health Care Foundation. She was a Wayne Health Care auxiliary volunteer, she served in leadership at Faith United Methodist Church in Arcanum, having served as treasurer and also choir director. She also championed hospice care in this area and was instrumental in the founding of EverHeart Hospice. She was a member of the Fort Black Order of the Eastern Star, the AWTHS, Sunnyside Club, Arcanum Criterion Club and the Red Hat group of retirees of Wayne Health Care. Susie is survived by nephews, Joseph (Cheryl) Van Vickle, James (Jennifer) Van Vickle; niece, LeAnn (Steve) Schlamb; great-nephews, Zachary & Connor Van Vickle, Patrick & Nicholas Schlamb; sister-in-law, Betty Weisenbarger; step-daughter, Susan Collins and by numerous other relatives and many special friends. Due to Susie’s extended period of declining health, she will be cremated, and a Celebration of Life Gathering and Memorial Service will be held at Faith UMC, located at 101 East South St. in Arcanum on Tuesday, April 16. A time to visit with family will run from 4-7 pm and Eastern Star services will start at 7, followed by a funeral message from Pastor Mike Back.
