Sandra Jane (Longenecker) Thompson

THOMPSON, SANDRA JANE
Age 89, of Arcanum, passed away to be with her Lord and Savior on November 3, 2023, at Everheart Hospice of Wayne Hospital. “Sandy” was born on August 20, 1934, in Darke County to the late Robert Longenecker and Jeanette (Barklow) Longenecker Hecathorn. She graduated from Arcanum High School in 1953. She furthered her education at Miami-Jacobs in secretarial skills. Sandy is survived by her husband of 68 years. She married Donald “Gene” Thompson on October 1, 1955. She retired as an x-ray technician’s assistant from Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton. Sandy will be remembered as kind and generous. She brought joy and laughter to others by sending humorous and encouraging cards. She enjoyed her cats and dogs, gardening, helping her husband farm, and attending her daughters’ activities. She was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Ithaca. Sandy is preceded in death by her sister, Margie Schnell, grandson, Kyle House, and son-in-law, Lars Jenssen. She is survived by her husband, Gene, daughters Renae Thompson of Vandalia, Rayna Thompson Jenssen of Arcanum, Kim (Terry) House of Arcanum; granddaughters Ann (Gavin) Glasscoe of Arcanum and Lena Jenssen of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin; great-grandsons Evan, Connor, and Cooper Glasscoe.
