BRODNICKI, Rainer “Nick”
Age 77, of Greenville (formerly of Pitsburg) passed away at his home on Sunday, July 18, 2021 following extended illnesses.
Nick served our country in the United States Army for 4 years (stationed in Germany), followed by a continued service into the Army Reserves. He worked and retired from the Greenville Post Office. He also served as auxiliary patrol for the Darke County Sheriff’s Office for many years, worked just about every Franklin-Monroe basketball game for several years, and enjoyed working the Great Darke County Fair. Nick would even help some local farmers plant and harvest their crops year after year. In his spare time you could find Nick playing cards with his friends while knocking back a few cold ones. He was an avid reader, a master at Trivial Pursuit, loved the Cubs & the Fighting Illini, and will be missed by all the family and friends he leaves behind.
Nick is preceded in death by his parents, Leo (Annie) Brodnicki; step-father, Walter Robinson; sister, Ellen Gordon, and her husband Jim Gordon.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Molly Brodnicki; children, Gretchen (Doug) Ferguson, Erika Smith, Christopher Brodnicki; grandchildren, Elizabeth Spahr, Jakob Spahr, Macey Knutson, Jessika Smith, Brandon Ferguson, Danielle Gutierrez; great-grandchildren, Cheyanne, Grace, Caleb, Finnegan, and Ivy; nieces, Penny (Mike) Omtvedt, Ingrid (Denny) Wolbers, and numerous other relatives and friends.
