HESS, Phyllis A.

Age 98, of Greenville, passed away at Rest Haven on Thursday, February 1, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, Milford & Mabel Herkins, by her husband Joe Hess; son, Jay Hess and by 2 grandsons, 2 granddaughters, 1 great-granddaughter & 1 brother. Phyllis was a 1943 graduate of Milton-Union High School. During WWII she helped build airplanes at WACO. She drove a school bus for FM Schools in the 1980’s, and was a secretary for both the Darke County Steam Threshers and the Midwest Draft Horse & Mule Assoc. Phyllis is survived by 6 children, Barbara Whitmer, Terry (Barb) Hess, Tom (Jeanne) Hess, Roger (Ilene) Hess, Herb Hess & Judy (Ken) Gainey; 22 grandchildren; Numerous great-grandchildren & great-great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 1pm Thursday, Feb. 8 at the Kreitzer Funeral Home, 204 N. Main St. Arcanum, OH 45304, with burial to follow in Newcomer Cemetery near Pitsburg.
