Martha Ilena Brumbaugh Baker was born July 26, 1926 to Earl and Ada (Beckner) Crist near West Phalia, Kansas. She departed this life in the early hour of January 18, 2021 in Troy, Ohio. Making her sojourn here 94 year and nearly 6 months.
Martha with her parents and two siblings moved to Covington, Ohio when Martha was around seven. She married Walter Brumbaugh son of Aaron and Iva Brumbaugh on Oct. 9, 1942. They resided around Arcanum, Ohio all their married life. Their first son died as an infant. They were later blessed with another son and two daughters. Walter passed away in 1985.
On October 23, 1987 Martha married Howard Baker. They resided around Springfield, Ohio till shortly before Howard’s passing 2016 when they moved Brookdale in Troy Ohio.
Early in life she realize her need of a savior and was baptized. She was received into fellowship with the Old Order German Baptist Church. Shortly after her and Walter were married they made their church fellowship with the Old German Baptist Brethren Church. For several years Walter and Martha were in the Church of The Brethren Fellowship. Shortly before Walters passing they were received back into fellowship with the Old German Baptist Brethren Church.
Left to remember her life and teaching are one Daughter Phyllis and her husband Gerald Miller, one daughter-in-law Marlene Brumbaugh. Grandchildren: Kevin(Rebecca) Brumbaugh, Delvin(Karen) Brumbaugh, Mark(Sarah) Brumbaugh, Amy(Trent) Peters, Brian Skelton, Melinda (Joe)Martino, Randy(Brenda)Westfall, Jennifer(Mike)Waymire; 37 great-grandchildren and many great-great- grandchildren. Step Children: Paris Eldridge,Beverly(Ezra) Wray, Lloyd(Renee) Baker, John Baker, Paul(Sandra) Baker;21step-grandchildren and many step great and great-great grandchildren. Also numerous nephews and nieces.
Preceding Martha in death were her parents, an infant son Jerry Brumbaugh, a son Charles Brumbaugh, a daughter Connie Westfall, a Granddaughter Kimra Skelton, and a step daughter MaryAnn Eldridge. She was also proceeded in death by her Infant brother Albert and brother Delbert(Wilma) Crist and her sister Mrytle (Norman) Flory. She was also proceeded in death by both her husband’s siblings.
Funeral services for Martha will be held on Friday, January 22, 2021, 10AM, at the Painter Creek Old German Baptist Brethren Church, 2998 Schnorf-Jones Rd., Arcanum, OH 45304. There will be a visitation on Thursday, January 21, 2021 from 5pm – 8pm at Kreitzer Funeral Home, 204 N. Main St., Arcanum, OH 45304.
