PENN, George Russell “Russ”
Russ left this world on Friday, January 15th, 2021. He was a beloved son, father, brother, and husband. Russ was a kind, quick-witted, and hard-working man, who spent the last 27 years living in Arcanum Ohio, after a lifetime of moving around the country. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving aboard the USS Sea Devil, a fast attack nuclear submarine. Russ went on to work many jobs throughout his lifetime, most rewardingly, at the Select-A-Seat ticketing company in Tampa, Florida, before attending school at Columbus State Community College in Columbus, Ohio and graduating with an Associate of Applied Sciences degree to become a large animal Veterinary Technician. He then worked for Hill’s Pet Nutrition as a chemist technician before retiring from that role. He later decided to rejoin the workforce with the United States Postal Service. In his time spent outside of work he and his late wife, Denice, operated a wildlife rehabilitation facility out of their home in Arcanum. Russ was also an avid genealogist. Russ is predeceased by his wife, Denice Guinaugh-Penn and his father, Edgar Revell Penn. He is survived by his son, Samuel Guinaugh-Penn; his mother, Mary Katherine (Kay) Davis Penn; his sister, Mary Louise Metzger (Michael); his brother, Michael Revell Penn (Vivian); nieces, nephews, close relatives, and many friends. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 18th from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at KREITZER FUNERAL HOME, 204 N. Main St., Arcanum, Ohio. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with interment to follow in Ithaca Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ASPCA in his name.
