Duane W. Ehlers

EHLERS, DUANE W.

Age 95, of Arcanum, Ohio, died on October 31, 2023, at Everheart Hospice Care Center in Greenville, Ohio. Duane was born in Bradford, Ohio on July 12, 1928 to Sophia (Rismiller) and Irven Ehlers. He graduated from Arcanum High School in 1946. In High School he worked for Lester Bailey Motors. After graduating he worked for NCR. In 1950 Duane started to work with his father-in-law Ira Dull in the natural gas and water drilling business. In 1958, Dayton Power & Light bought out the business and took on Duane as an employee. Duane retired from DP&L after 35 years. After retirement Duane mowed the Darke County Fairgrounds for 13 years. For 18 winters Duane and his wife would reside in Okeechobee, FL. In his younger days Duane enjoyed bowling, fishing in Wisconsin and a good card game. Duane and his wife enjoyed traveling and camping in their RV. Duane was a longtime member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Ithaca, Ohio. Duane was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Richard (Bonnie) Ehlers, Lee (Bonnie) Ehlers, and Carolyn (Bill) Gunder. Duane is survived by his wife of 76 years Janet (Dull) Ehlers; sons, Dennis (Jan) Ehlers of Wimauma, FL., Dean Ehlers of Arcanum, OH; granddaughters, Monica (Brady) Baughn and Krista (Mark) Coppess all of Greenville, OH; great-grandchildren, Lauren (Korey) Garland, Alaina Baughn, Cody Coppess, Ethan (Fiancé Bell Cable) Coppess and baby girl Garland on the way; step-granddaughter Cassie Boccabello; Step-great-grandchildren, Summer and Tanner Boccabello all of Florida. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Everheart Hospice Greenville, OH or SonRise Church Ithaca, OH. Visitation will be on November 4, 2023, from 10-11a.m. at the Kreitzer Funeral Home, 204 N.
