RITZ, Carol J.

Age 87, of Greenville, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at the Brethren Retirement Community, surrounded by her loving family. Carol was born in Gordon, Ohio March 21, 1936, to the late Oscar and Mildred (Peden) Shepard. She retired from Rest Haven Nursing Home and spent many years working at Downing Fruit Farm and Hannahs Garden Center. Carol had a great sense of humor and a contagious laugh. She raised 3 wonderful daughters. Carol enjoyed many years of square dancing with the Treaty Squares and making quilts for her family and friends. She loved to bake and was well known for her pies. Carol loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Larry, by her parents, Oscar & Mildred Shepard and by her brothers, Roger and Jim Shepard. Carol is survived by daughters, Sheryll Ritz (David Wetzel) of New Madison, Peggy Dill & Mindy Kauffman (Tim) all of Arcanum; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brother, Bill Shepard of Greenville and numerous other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held on May 26, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. at the Kreitzer Funeral Home, 204 N. Main St. Arcanum, OH 45304, with burial to follow in Ithaca Cemetery.
