Age 99, formerly of Pitsburg, passed away April 4, 2017 in Texas. Thurston proudly served our country as a commander in the 90th Chemical Mortar Battalion through World War II. After retiring from his teaching career from Hardin-Houston Schools, he spent many of his days traveling the states to visit his family. Thurston was a man with a wonderful heart and loved his family dearly. He will truly be missed by all. Thurston was preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne, son Robert, daughter Barbara and brother, Emil. He is survived by his remaining daughter Betty (Richard) Chaplin, grandsons David (Summer) Chaplin and Mark (Jenifer) Chaplin, great grandchildren Braxton, Ayla and Evie Chaplin, daughter-in-law Jacquelyn Haynes, many cousins, nieces and nephews, and numerous other relatives and family. A graveside service with military honors will be held 1:00pm, June 10th, at Mote Cemetery, Arcanum, Ohio. A Celebration of Life gathering will follow at the Baymont Inn & Suites in Piqua, 950 E Ash St, Piqua, OH 45356, from 2:30pm – 5:30pm on June 10th. Arrangements made by Kreitzer Funeral Home.
